Soen Eng Yap was born in Indonesia and studied medicine and music (piano) in Freiburg, Germany. She is a general practician in Norway for 43 years, gave piano charity concerts in Norway, and different places in Europe, Asia and Nigeria. She has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

She has a Ph.D. in medicine, obtained in 2012: Maternal health among Pakistani immigrants in Norway. She started music school, music festivals, political organization, women health organization, and health center in Nesbyen. She is the first immigrant who received the King Reward in 2013

She started the organization “Mother and Child Uganda” together with Finn Edvardsen in 2014
